Is the Abu Garcia REVO winch reel/bass pro shops crankin stick rod reel combo the right one for me?

I am looking to buy a rod and reel combo for heavy tackle fishing. Is this the right rod and reel that i shouls buy for this? Also, what do you consider heavy lures?

I personally have 2 Revo setups and love them. You should be just fine although I’m not exactly sure how “heavy” tackle you’re talking about fishing. I throw a lot of my bigger crankbaits, jigs, and spinnerbaits on mine and do great. So the reel is fine, you need to think more about your rod. Will you constantly be throwing heavier baits for bigger fish? If so a heavy action rod may be the better way to go. If you’re just going to throw a 1/2 ounce jig here and there for Bass then a medium/heavy will be just fine. In my opinion, a medium/heavy setup is heavy enough for anything Bass. The only rod I use for Bass are 6′6 medium/heavy which will allow you to throw anything from jigs to a weightless worm.

When I hear somebody say heavy lures (and they’re talking about Bass fishing) I think of 1/2 ounce jigs, large crankbaits, large spinnerbaits, and heavier rigs like a Carolina Rigged worm.
